Members of the Latvian team of the worldwide young professionals mastery competition WorldSkills 2019 spent several days in a team consolidation and psychological resilience promotion camp.

For three days the young people together with organizers and coaches participated in various activities to better prepare for completing of competition tasks in conditions of increased stress, and became acquainted with binding documents and details of the competition WorldSkills 2019. Whereas such physical tests as night hike, completing a rope track, holding balance on SUP boards and other activities strengthened the sense of unity and tested the reaction of the young people in non-standard situations.

“Participants of such international competitions are the best specialists of each country, but the key aspect, which makes one participant better than the others, is preparedness of each young person to deal with stress and tension during the competition, ability to control emotions and focus on solving the given tasks. Such skills can be improved only through experience gained in real work environment and large-scale competitions. We emphasize it repeatedly during the camp and try to test the young people in various situations, maybe even provoking them,” states SkillsLatvia team leader Rudīte Bloka.

In the competition WorldSkills 2019, which this year will take place in Kazan (Russia) from 22 - 28 August, Latvia will be represented by 7 young professionals in 7 skills contests. The competition will gather approximately 1,500 young professionals from 67 countries, who will compete for medals in 56 skills contests.

The achievements of the Latvian team in previous years are available in sections EuroSkills and WorldSkills of SEDA.
