The application call for the Latvian state scholarships competition for studies and research for the academic year 2021/2022 is completed. 102 applicants from 27 countries have been nominated for a study or research scholarship. The evaluation committee, comprised of the representatives from the State Education Development Agency of Latvia, Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia and Student Union of Latvia has completed the evaluation of applications.
In 2021, 391 applications were received, which is an increase of 10% compared to the previous year and means that the competition among the applicants was quite tough.
The number of applications submitted for the study scholarships was 307, out of which 102 applicants have been nominated for the Latvian state scholarships to pursue studies at Latvian higher education institutions.
For the research fellowships, 84 applications were submitted, and 22 researchers have been nominated for the research fellowship to be conducted at Latvian scientific institutes or higher education institutions.
In total, the scholarship nominees represent nationals of 27 countries. The top five countries of the scholarship receivers are Ukraine, Germany, Finland, Azerbaijan, and Italy.
